Our house was built in 1910, and renovating it presents a multitude of problems.
The house is off kilter, askew, and from one end of a room – any room - to the other, the floor can dip by inches, in the span of a just a few feet! Renovating this place takes attention to detail and determination to get the project done right. I am happy to report that Handy Woman, Bettina Tooley, has completed renovations in our home with amazing success. She has dealt with all the problems an old house presents and with intelligence and creativity, she conquered the obstacles and improved our house enormously.
Christmas 2019, Bettina Tooley installed a beautiful new bathtub, with grab bars on a tiled wall. Bettina tiled the bathroom wall and made every effort, despite strange differences in heights and widths in our old place and succeeded in creating a lovely new bathing area for us.
February, 2021 we were very lucky to have Bettina return to install a Sauna, a main floor Powder room and a Laundry room. Bettina’s craftsmanship is obvious in the gorgeous Sauna. Her inventiveness was needed in our Powder room. She created custom made pocket doors between the Powder room and Laundry room. As well, an upstairs closet needed a new louvered door, which she built to order. She accommodated a new floating toilet with a removable wall in the closet behind to enable easy access for any future plumbing repairs. She figured out how to make our vanity removable should we need to take out an older washing machine in some distant future. As well, she rehinged our dog’s gate and added a special latch on our garage door. This was not part of the project, she just saw something needing to be done, and she went at it.
This is de rigeur with Bettina. Bettina is good natured and cheerful. She is punctual and does not waste time. Bettina is passionate about her work and makes huge efforts to complete her work in a polished, professional way. Her level is always at hand. She makes things right, despite the extra time and problem solving required to achieve her goals. She is a perfectionist, and we feel incredibly grateful to have had her do her excellent work in our place.
Should we ever decide to do more renos (we do like renos!) Bettina Tooley, Handy Woman, would be our very first choice to go after – and it would be worth it to us to wait until she would be available.
